Message from the Chairman
We have a Republican majority school board, and yet we do not have a superintendent that comes close to sharing our Republican values. This county was not satisfied with Democrats running our school system, so in the last election we rose-up and swept the entire school board with Republicans. We expected sweeping changes as a result, and there are none more important than the person in charge of our entire school system. You have every right to be furious with the recent school board decision this past Tuesday to extend the contract of Superintendent Dr. Charles Foust, Democrat, for another 3 years.
Two cycles ago we had only a single person run for school board as a Republican, just one, and now she votes with the Democrats every single time, including this recent vote for Dr. Foust. I am calling on conservatives to step-up and run for office. There is a reason this keeps happening. Liberty requires maintenance! And most of us keep saying we are just too busy to participate in self-government. If you are unhappy with the results you are seeing, then it might be about time to make some time.
Facing The Threat To Wilmington Area Schools
I was having lunch with a friend last week and an elderly man sat next to us. His hat read “World War II Veteran, Purple Heart.” He looked over and introduced himself, and briefly spoke about his experience fighting in the Battle of the Bulge, and that he was lucky to be alive. When mentioning his purple heart he held up his fingers and said quietly, “I received two.” He’s 99 years old.
If we want to keep our liberty, and instill an appreciation of American values in our kids, it requires sacrifice. Think about what some of the people that came before us had to sacrifice, and yet most of us have been too busy to sacrifice our time, here at home, in an air-conditioned boardroom.
Conservatives make up the largest number of talented people in our society, and we all face the same threat. Whatever you call yourself, or don’t call yourself, we are on the same team. We are here with the resources to win elections and get conservatives into government positions where they can protect our liberty and stop this freak society the Democrats are currently creating for our kids.
There Is No Time To Waste
Most of you have heard this quote paraphrasing Edmund Burke, but it bears repeating:
“The only thing necessary for evil to triumph in the world is that good men do nothing.”
The 2024 election will be here before you know it. It is time to get to work. We are all volunteers here. Consider attending our next meeting or subscribing to our newsletter. The time to act is now.
